This is a WONDERFUL book giving accounts of the Old Testament in novel form. The author has an amazing skill at making the Bible heroes come to life as real people, describing well their time period, thoughts, and appearance, with no apparent deviation from scripture. This book is out of print and I was extremely happy to find used copies on Amazon.com. I bought 4 of them intending to keep one and give the other 3 as gifts.

The light comes on!

It is easier to read history if it is presented chronologically and that is what this book does in telling the stories of the Old Testament. I read the book as a newcomer to the Christian Scriptures and I would have fled in confusion if I hadn't read it before entering into a class being offered at my church. I still had to deal with the strange way that history is presented in bits and pieces. I have a copy of this book on hand to share with others who avoid Old Testament study for lack of a starting anchor and compass for direction. How the Christian Scriptures came to be presented and remains in such convoluted order remains a mystery to me. The book is well written, very readable, Fulton Oursler is a hero.

This book makes reading the Old Testiment from the Bible much easier. The words are in every day language. I recommend it to anyone that desires reading the Holy Bible.
