Suspense from beginning to end
By Joan N.
Eason knows how to create suspense and there is plenty of it in this novel. If you like well written suspense, you'll like this one.
Dani has planned and is finally ready to take her eleven year old son and escape from her abusive husband, Kurt. She knows she has to do this right because her husband is an FBI agent and could find her. When Kurt is shot and killed, she thinks her terror is over.
But it has just begun. Her husband was involved in some dirty activities and now others are after her. They want something Kurt left behind and she has no idea what it is. Adding to the tension is the obsession of her brother-in-law, Stuart, also an FBI agent. He and Kurt were fiercely competitive and Stuart wants the final win – Kurt's wife.
The suspense in this novel starts right at the beginning and does not let up. Dani turns to Operation Refuge for help and Aaron comes to her rescue. Taking her to a safe house is the only answer, but how safe is it when FBI agents are the ones after you?
Eason has done a great job of combining a tension filled plot with well developed characters. I really liked Simon, Dani's deaf son. He is a gutsy kid, even if he did make a bad decision or two. When I found out his deafness had been caused during one of Kurt's violent outbursts, it made me root for Dani and Simon all the more.
When I say there is suspense from start to finish, I mean it. Just when I thought all the bad guys had been dealt with, there was a twist in the plot and one last tension filled scene.
There is a little romance included too. All around, a well written and well plotted novel. I highly recommend it to lovers of suspense. (While this is the second is a series, it reads very well on its own.)
I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher for the purpose of an independent and honest review.

Action-packed suspense
By Raya
In the second of Lynette Eason's Hidden Identity series, Dani Harding, an abused wife and mother to a deaf son, finally gets up the courage to leave her husband, an FBI agent. On the run, she hears of her husband's sudden death, and so, supposing they are safe, returns home. However, her husband, a dirty agent, had many secrets that come back to haunt her, and Dani flees again, this time with the help of Adam Buchanan of Operation Refuge. They know Dani's stalker brother-in-law is after her, but he isn't the only one - the problem is, they don't know who the others are or how they keep finding them. Wherever they hide, danger swiftly follows; can Adam find a way to save Dani and her son, even if there is nowhere to turn?
Like the book before it, Nowhere to Turn flows like an action movie - every scene is fast-paced and action-packed; every moment that it seems like things could slow down, something happens to ramp up the intensity. Even near the end, when I thought all was safe - bam! Eason does an excellent job capturing a reader's attention and not letting go until the very last page.
I really enjoyed the twisty-complexity of the plot; rather than one villain, there is a host of people after Dani and the things her husband left in the safe. Amongst all the dirty agents and their cohorts, who is playing who? Which one is going to come out on top? Are they all still dancing to the tune of Dani's husband, even from the grave?
I liked the inclusion of Simon, the intelligent but deaf child; his handicap adds depth and suspense to the story. There is not a heavy Christian message, but Dani's circumstances encourage us to keep trusting, whatever the circumstances and however long one must endure them. An attention-grabbing, action-packed suspense!

Not my favorite Lynette Eason book, but it was still good.
By Melanie
Nowhere To Turn was a good romantic suspense read. It starts off crazy-good and the pages just flew by! However, I did get a little tired of the story when, for the majority of the book, it was all about running away, finding new "safe" houses, etc. and that the main characters didn't think of certain things sooner.
Still, I did like the story as a whole and loved the first half. The characters were interesting and it was nice that Summer and David (from book one) were in this story, too.
Overall, not my favorite Lynette Eason book, but it was still good. If you enjoy these types of books and/or previous Lynette Eason novels, you'll probably like Nowhere To Turn, too.
