A lifeline to His peace, renewed joy, and wild hope!

"We can do everything we know is right to do, both physically and spiritually, and still be faced with a tragic ending."
When Jocelyn Green, author of Faith Deployed: Daily Encouragement for Military Wives, Faith Deployed...Again: More Daily Encouragement for Military Wives, Wedded to War (Heroines Behind the Lines), and Widow of Gettysburg (Heroines Behind the Lines), gave me the opportunity to read Powerful Prayers for Challenging Times by Jackie M. Johnson, this was my agonizing reality. My husband was a world away - deployed to Kuwait, and our daughter was struggling with anorexia; a debilitating, life threatening eating disorder. In my personal anguish and despair, I wondered, "How does one pray under such overwhelming circumstances?" When I read the website's description to Powerful Prayers for Challenging Times, I knew I needed the wild hope that Jackie spoke of in her book!
Before I get ahead of myself, allow me to share what the website has to say:

This book was wonderful.It didn't take me long before I realized, this book was not to be rushed! For me to soak up all that God desired, I'd have to take my time; ponder every word, every prayer, and every lesson within.
And so I did!
Page by page, chapter by chapter, I absorbed it all by asking the Lord to use this book to bring healing and restoration to my heart and soul. In doing so, this book, literally, became a lifeline to His peace and renewed joy.
When I felt like giving up, He led me to this Scripture verse and prayer:
"You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised (Hebrews 10:36).
Lord, so many times I am tempted to give up. Life is just too hard, and I cannot do it on my own. Please give me the inner strength to keep going. I long to do your will. Fortify me, Lord. Thank you for keeping your promises - all of them, all the time. I trust you for your help, hope, and healing as we walk through this life together. In Jesus' name. Amen (p.24)."
When I was busy and stressed; feeling overwhelmed, He provided His peace.
"Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way (2 Thessalonians 3:16).
Lord, I am frazzled. My hands are full and my mind is reeling with all the things I have to do. Please help me to accomplish all that needs to get done each day and to find rest. As I work, help me to be productive and peaceful. As I love others, help me to be calm and encouraging. I need your peace in every area of my life today. In Jesus' name. Amen (p.35)."
When I found myself struggling with anticipatory grief and loss, He met me in this place.
"Hear my prayer, Lord, listen to my cry for help; do not be deaf to my weeping (Psalm 39:12).
Lord, I come before you sad today. You know my heart; you see my tears and hear my cries for help in this time of adversity. I cannot believe this has happened. Some days I am just numb. But you are with me, and that makes all the difference. I am not alone. Help me through this time of trouble, Lord. I know you are stronger than anything that comes against me, and I put my trust in you. I'm leaning on you, Lord. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen (p.135-136)."

Three Good Books!

Have read both previous copies of Jackie Johnson's books. Have looked over but not read completely book #3 "POWERFUL PRAYERS for Challenging Times". This is a book you will spend some time with. Read this book and you will want to share it with a friend. This book is worth sharing. Check it out. (I am proud to say I am her father.)
