Oh, What A Great Story!

I loved this book! Another wonderful book by Melody Carlson. I could not put the book down and finished it in no time at all. The story and characters will capture your heart. If you want a clean, inspiring story, do read this book.
Melody Carlson has written many books. I have read lots of her books and have enjoyed every one. She is a very gifted writer.

Slow moving romance

I have never really read anything by Melody Carlson, but the cover for the book All Summer Long looked really interesting. I'm all about pursing your dreams no matter the cost. Dreams are a huge part of what makes our life worthy doing. All Summer Long is a contemporary romance, so I knew it would have a predictable romance that would meet resistance along the way.
Of course, the romance had to have its up and downs. From the first part of the book, Tia leaves everything behind in her small town in Washington to move to San Francisco to help her aunt with a boat diner. I'm proud she was able to pack up and move to pursue what she wanted to do with her life. But as soon as she runs into Leo, an old flame from her teenage years, Tia doesn't really show any emotions. Their first encounter at the restaurant seemed unbelieveable. Tia was calm and acted in a way that I had a hard time swallowing. I was in Tia's perspective, so why did Carlson not allow me to see how uncomfortable that Tia actually was?
The story was predictable, even if it centered on a unique setting of a dinner boat. I knew pretty early on how the love pairs would disolve and finally appear.
As for the plot, I was completely bored. I kept flipping through pages just to move through the story quickly. But fans, in my humble opinion of contemporary romances might enjoy this book. I just really didn't like the slow movement, especially when I knew how the different relationships would end up.
Not enough action to my suspense loving taste, Melody Carlson's All Summer Long made me yawn as I flipped through the pages, begging for something to spice up the predictable romance. Even though I struggled with the novel, fans of Amanda Cabot might enjoy this book.

Easy Summertime Reading

I try to eat light in the summertime, try to dress in lighter clothing, try to keep my makeup on the light side (well, that's a lot of the year). Light reading is another thing I go for when the days get long. The second in the Follow Your Heart series by Melody Carlson fits the bill perfectly: All Summer Long - A San Francisco Romance.
As I said, it's a great book to pop in your beach bag or bring poolside. It's an easy read, and one that you wouldn't worry about handing to your 13 year old cousin to read after you've finished with it.
It does seem a bit questionable that, after nine years, both Tia and Leo recognize each other right away, and that Tia seems to expect Leo to have feelings for her after he kissed her just one time when they were 16. Then she is devastated that he is engaged - to an absolutely perfect, drop-dead gorgeous rich girl. From then on, it seemed every chapter ended with Tia berating herself for liking Leo, and resolving Once Again to distance herself from him, which never happens.
The story is semi-predictable, but that's fine. At times it seemed like I was reading bits of a travel blog; I swear, I could find places in San Francisco now just from this book! I have no problem with that, just sometimes it seemed a bit much. And yes, there were times I just wanted to throw some linguine at Tia. But, for all that, I did have fun reading All Summer Long. It's perfect for a pick-up story when you can only read a chapter at a time, or for a book you might read when there are distractions (like the pool!), because it's really easy to get back into.
