Thinking Thoughts RE:View

Immediately, when I dug into Singularity, I was once again drawn into Jevin Banks' story. For me, this second book began even more smoothly than Placebo. That could be due to the fact that I was already familiar with the characters though, but I enjoyed the fast paced and intriguing beginning.
The story itself was very entertaining. Often, I found myself literally holding my breath (sometimes with Jevin as he preformed an illusion) wondering what was going to happen next. James is a masterful story teller who knows the best way to weave suspense with a swift, flowing plot.
I would definitely recommend this to any readers who like suspense and are interested in a slightly sci-fi/technical feel. I would highly recommend reading the first book, Placebo, before hoping into this one though - just so the fullness of the story can take affect.
One cautionary thing though - the book is set in Las Vegas and James is not shy about openly explain what the "strip" is like in a very frank (and sometimes shocking) manner. To me, it's what makes the book real, but to some it could be slightly offensive.

Automata and Humanity

Terrorism, science fiction, international drug lords all contribute to exciting read. Jevin Banks, a well-known and established Las Vegas magician, does not expect to find himself in the middle of a murder and kidnapping investigation.
Beginning with the death of an assistant, Jevin is drawn into the increasingly dangerous world of people researching the interaction of automata and humanity within Area 51. The book also explores the civilian use of drones. This combination of themes and ideas makes for a intriguing story. With a hint of faith rolled in, the church is reminded that it must begin to come to grips with these issues as well.

Great Book!

Steven James is an author that defines his characters very well as you get to know and like them through the pages of his books. This is the second book in the new Jevin Banks novel series and, as always, he keeps you riveted with the movement of the plot, the unexpected, and the depth and emotions of Jevin and the other people close to him. Steven James is a gifted storyteller and grabs your interest from the very beginning. I hope there are more books in this series.
